George served as a Staff Sergeant and Asst. Engineer on B-24J (#44-40929), 372nd Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on July 15, 1944.

He resided in Minnesota prior to the war.

George was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in Manila, Philippine Islands and was later repatriated here on January 16, 1950.
