Roland R. (Dick) Carter, 67, of Atlanta, TX was born December 14, 1930 in Grinell, Iowa. Dick passed away May 27, 1998 in Atlanta, TX. He was preceeded in death by his parents Mildred (Millie) Appleton, Newton, IA and Ray Thomas Carter, Marshalltown, IA.

Mr. Carter married his highschool sweetheart, Delores(Dee) Sawyer in 1951 at Newton, IA. Roland served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949-1953 with the 67th TAC Wing as a radio operator on RB-26 Blackbird aircraft during the Korean Conflict. He was a highly decorated Air Traffic Controller at the FAA Air Traffic Controll Center in Chicago and then as an instructor at the FAA Training Facility in Oklahoma City, retiring in 1973.

Dick & Dee lived on Lake Texhoma and in Madill, OK for many years until moving to Atlanta, TX.

Survivors include his wife, Dee of Atlanta, TX, Step-Father Vern Appleton of Atlanta,sons Mike & Cathy CArter of Muskogee, OK and Steve Carter of Atlanta, TX. a daughter, Susan Hunter and husband Phil of Norman, OK.

Grandchildren Leigh, Megan & Nick Carter, Colby & Jennifer Bramlett all survive.
