She was born May 25, 1922, in Riverton, the daughter of John and Margaret Roscetti. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert L. Jones, on March 10, 1945. They were married for 64 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Jones of Springfield; two daughters, Cheryl A. (husband, Ron) Fafoglia of Springfield and Judy K. (husband, Bill) Capie of Carterville; six grandchildren, Abigail (husband, Greg) Dennis, Robert (wife, Sarah) Fafoglia, Jennifer (husband, Steve) Sims, Michelle (husband, Chris) Lovett, Sarah Capie and Will Capie (fiancee, Amber Nichols); two great-grandchildren, Cole and Drake; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gena was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was an avid reader, Frank Sinatra fan and loved watching vintage movies.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayer service at 5 p.m. The body will lie-in-state from noon until the time of funeral mass at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Church of the Little Flower, with Monsignor John Ossola officiating.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Little Flower School.
