The funeral for Andrew Melvin Stanley, 85, of 1207 South Askin St., Martinsville, who died March 16, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville. The Rev. Robert Breckenridge will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends for one hour before the service Wednesday and other times at the home.
Stanley was born in Martinsville on Aug. 28, 1922, to Andrew W. Stanley and Sarah Lena Coleman Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Espa Stanley and S. Earl Stanley.
He served in the Army during World War II, and he retired from Bob White Chevy, where he worked for 30 years.
He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Travelers Protective Association, and had been a member of the Pythians for 50 years. He attended Fuller Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Smith Stanley of the home; sisters, Sarah Marjorie Dansby of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Avis S. Clark of Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
