Jacob, wife Elizabeth (Neuschaler) and their three children, Jacob, Barbara and Elisabeth along with his father Jacob Sr. and his 2 sisters Katherina and Barbara left their home in Germany on Oct. 29, 1841 for their journey to North America. They walked for 3 weeks to the harbor, delayed 14 days in harbor, 9 weeks on the ocean, the whole journey taking them 18 weeks arriving March 3, 1842. On March 25, 1842 they settled on their land in Lee Co., Iowa.

Jacob and Elizabeth had 11 children, Jacob, Barbara, Elisabeth born in German. John, Conrad, Adam Katharine, George H., Maria Catherine, Susanna and Frederick G. Faeth all born in Lee Co., Iowa.

He died in Lee Co., Iowa in Oct. 31, 1868, His tombstone was not found in St. Peter's Presbyterian Cemetery probably due to crumbling and vandalism. His wife Elizabeth and his father Jacob are also buried in this cemetery and no tombstones were found for them either.
