Henry is the only son of Pearley and Gertrude (Potter) Thomas. He married (first) Olene Dunham in 1937 at Nevada, Missouri, they have no children. Divorced in 1946. Henry married (second) LaDonna Steele on May 16, 1948, they have two sons, James Marvin and Byron LeRoy.

He appears on the 1920 and 1930 Censuses with his parents, Pearley and Gertrude.

Henry James Thomas, 77, Lexington, Missouri, formerly of this area, died September 28, 1991, at Research Medical Center. He was born in Deerfield, Missouri, and lived in Fort Scott, Kansas; Kansas City; and Richmond before he moved to Lexington in 1950. Mr Thomas was a salesman for Townley Hardware Company in Kansas City for forty-eight years before he retired in 1984. He was a member of the Lexington congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a member of the Lexington Booster Club. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, LaDonna Jean Thomas of the home; two sons, James M Thomas, Lexington, and Byron L Thomas, Kansas City; two sisters, Wilma M Niemeir, Tempe, Arizona, and Helen E Niemeir, Hutchinson, Kansas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at the Walker-Nadler-Graff Chapel, Lexington; burial in Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8 pm Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the National Kidney Foundation or the Lexington RLDS Church.
