Funeral Mass was held Friday, December 28th, 2007 for 78-year-old Bertrand V. "Bert" Mattingly of Brewer, who died Monday, December 24th, 2007 at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 20th, 1929 in St. Mary, the son of Vincent and Rosella (Gibbar) Mattingly. They preceded him in death.

He married Margie Brewer April 26th, 1952. She survives in Brewer.

He is survived by five sons and two daughters in law, Mark and Terry Mattingly, Bruce Mattingly, Kent Mattingly and Kris Mattingly, all of Perryville, Brady and Charleen Mattingly of Edwardsville, IL; three daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Brian McGivern of Edwardsville, IL, Connie and Steve Prost of Perryville, Kathy and Kurt LaRose of Tallahassee, FL; a brother and sister in law, Cullen and Novona Mattingly of St. Mary; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A daughter, Geralyn Buchheit, five brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

He was employed by Mississippi Lime, and was an Army veteran.

He was a member of the Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer.

Funeral Mass for 78-year-old Bertrand V. "Bert" Mattingly of Brewer was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 28th, 2007 at the Christ the Savior Catholic Church. The Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiated.

Burial followed in the Christ the Savior Cemetery. Military graveside honors were provided by American Legion Post 133.
