Danny Ray Bayless
Surrounded by family, Danny Bayless, 52, of Shasta Lake City passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, January 14, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. He was born October 31,1956, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to Harold and Margaret Bayless. He grew up and went to school in Colcord, Oklahoma. He also lived and worked in Kansas before moving to Bakersfield, California in 1982 where he met the love of his life, his wife, Maria. They relocated to Shingletown in 1986 and later to Shasta Lake City. He worked for Marvin Lachney Excavating and Paving, as a Truck Driver and Equipment Operator.
Referred to, by many as an "Okie," Danny was a good ole boy, a rare breed, well known for being honest and hard working. He was a proud, simple, and quiet man who would give you the shirt off his back. He wasn't one for crowds. He loved being at home with his family, you could probably find him relaxing in his lazyboy recliner watching a western, or playing a game of dominoes. He took much joy in being able to watch and share in the raising of his grandsons, Mario and Donovan, as they were his pride and joy. He loved the outdoors and spent countless hours tending to his lawns, roses, and vegetable garden. He was always tinkering with something and had the natural ability to fix just about anything. Danny was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend. If you knew him, you loved him and the chances were good that you probably learned something from him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, including his faithful hound dog, Blue.
Danny is survived by his loving wife Maria and his children: James and Chloe' Bayless of Shasta Lake City, Tommy Bayless(Lisa) of Jones Valley, Jodie Bayless of Texas, Danny Bayless Jr. of Kansas, Crystal Willoughby of Oklahoma, and 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by 11 brothers and sisters; Jay Bayless(Josephine), Max Bayless, Bill Bayless(Nancy), Virgil Bayless(Debbie), Dale Bayless, Gladys Wilmoth(Floyd), Edra Wiley(Bob), Marilyn Vaughan(Ed), Carolyn Blackfox(Mac) all of Oklahoma. Cloys Bayless(Debra) and Jerry Bayless of Kansas. Mother-in-Law, Sondra Carter of Redding, brother-in-laws; Jim Shelton(Teresa) of Wyoming, and John P. Kaczynski of Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Bayless, Brother, Clifford Dill, Sister, Helen Ames, Step-mother, Lois Bayless, Father-in-Law, John B. Kaczynski, and nephews; Michael Bayless, Darrell Ames, and Shelby Blackfox.
Graveside services, officiated by Marv Van Voy, were held on January 22, 2009 at the Ogburn/Inwood Cemetery in Shingletown. A Celebration of Life service and luncheon were held later that same day at the Millville Grange, in Palo Cedro.
The family would like to thank everyone who generously donated to the "The Danny Bayless Memorial Fund" set up at North Valley Bank, as an Educational Trust Fund for his youngest child, Chloe'. All the prayers, love, and kindness that has been shown to us these past few weeks is much appreciated. We find comfort knowing that Danny is now at peace and resting in Heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
