Obituary

Charles C. Tobias, 83, of Albion MI went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 1, 2004.

e was born July 15, 1921, in Tracy, Cascade Co., MT to Charles and Klara (Toth) Tobias, and moved to Michigan at the age of six.

Mr. Tobias was a WWII veteran and received a purple heart after serving his country on the Pacific front for three years.

He married Ruth Bushong March 31, 1946.

She survives.

They enjoyed many years of creating a home together and partnering in their business venture, antiquing, in Shipshewana IN.

An employee of Union Steel for 40 years, Mr. Tobias took great pride in service on the union committee and as union president.

He was active in his community, serving on the Tamarack School Board and United Way Committee.

Dearly loved by his family and friends, he will be fondly remembered for his love of Sunday family gatherings, treats for his grandchildren, and his special connection to nature and wildlife that he shared with his children.

He also enjoyed gardening, berry picking, fishing with his son and son-in-law, and deer hunting with his son.

Mr. Tobias made each family member important and lived by the motto "He never knew a stranger."

In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, he is survived by two daughters, Illona (Terry) McKown and Anita (Gary) Watkins; a son, Charles (Amy) Tobias; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren,; a sister, Helen (Tobias) Berry; and a brother, Steven Tobias.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Emma (Tobias) Plaza and beloved son-in-law Terry D. McKown.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at 2 p.m. at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, Albion MI, with the Rev. Dewayne Bagley officiating.

Interment followed at Albion Memory Garden
