Saul's given name was really Savo but only his family called him that. He was the 3rd of 6 children born to George and Stella Kokotovich. He married Martha Serbian on Saturday, 8 July 1944 before shippping out to Europe. He loved music and played the Brach and the Accordian.

He was part of the 395th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division and was killed in actionon 15 December 1944 on hill 627 in Germany a few hundred yards from the Belgium border. His remains were left behind as the enemy advanced and after the war the Army deemed him unrecoverable.

On Tuesday, 17 April 2001, his remains were recovered by 2 Belgiums who were part of the MIA Project looking to return US service men to their families. He is listed on the wall of the missing at Netherland's Cemetery in Belgium. However there is now a bronze rosette next to his name indicating he is no longer missing. He was burried at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium on 22 June 2002.
