Burnett "Burnie" Wilkie Messervy, 40, of Charleston, a self-employed trades craftsman, died Saturday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Episcopal Churchyard in Meggett. Burial will be directed by Stuhr's Downtown Chapel.
Mr. Messervy was born in Charleston, a son of Don A. Messervy and Betty Clark Messervy. He was a graduate of James Island High School and a member of the Eastern Surfing Association. He was Baptist.
Surviving are his parents of James Island; two brothers, D. Alvin Messervy Jr. of Folly Beach and A. Craig Messervy of James Island; two sisters, Donna M. Clark of Shelby, N.C., and Cindy M. Sanders of James Island.
