Jennie Berry, 77, a resident of Blue Mountain Nursing Home in Prairie City died Nov. 1 at Blue Mountain Hospital.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Canyon City Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 19, 1924, to Frank and Blanche (Hale) Chapman at Blackfoot, Idaho, where her father worked on ranches.

On Oct. 12, 1941, she married Lloyd Berry at Blackfoot, Idaho. In 1961, the family moved to Mt. Vernon, where she served as a cook at Mt. Vernon School. She was a housewife who enjoyed reading, embroidery work and her family.

She lived at Blue Mountain Nursing Home since July 1999.

Mrs. Berry is survived by four sons, Clyde Berry of John Day, Joe Berry of Mt. Vernon, Dennis Berry of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Richard Berry of Baker City; daughter, Debbie Moore of John Day; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and four sons, Roger, Jim, Danny and Bob.

Memorial contributions can be made to Blue Mountain Nursing Home. Driskill Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements. (Blue Mountain Eagle newspaper)
