Listed as "BIDDEL, SAML H." in Anna Watring's book. He died of a gunshot wound at Newtons Hospital.

He was originally buried in what was listed as plot M-623 before the land for the National cemetery was purchased from Loudon Park Cemetery.

The actual handwritten report at Delaware Public Archives notes that he died on July 14th at Newton Hospital from a gunshot wound to the right thigh, which he received the wound in the Battle of Gettysburg .
