Artist, British Television Pioneer. Norman Antony Hart (always known as Tony) was an affable presenter who inspired children to paint and draw on BBC-TV shows for nearly 50 years. In 1952 he began his TV career on the program "Saturday Special", demonstrating his talents by drawing fish on a napkins. He became a resident artist of the network and subsequently appeared on such shows as "Playbox and Titch", "Quackers", and as host of the 1964 series "Vision On", which was intended for deaf children. In 1977, he created his clay character partner Morph for his show "Hartbeat", which aired from 1985 to 1994, attracting millions of viewers each week. His career continued with the program "Smart Hart" until his retirement in 2001. He is the recipient of two Bafta awards and he received a lifetime achievement award in 1998.
