FALLING BED OF DUMP TRUCK KILLS MAN IN OWN BACK YARD - A 35-year-old father was killed in his own back yard yesterday when a dump-truck bed accidentally fell on his head. He was William L. Logsdon, a truck driver for Reynolds Metals Company. Logsdon was filling in the yard at his home on Blue Lick Pike off Preston Highway with dirt from the truck. He had dumped one load when the truck bed stuck in the unloading position. Logsdon climbed out of the truck cab to investigate. He stuck his head between the tilted bed and the truck frame. Just then the bed fell back on him, crushing his head. His wife, Mrs. Margaret Logsdon, was standing on the other side of the truck when the mishap occurred about 10:30 A.M. She did not see the bed fall on her husband, according to Chief Deputy Coroner William T. Kammerer. Other survivors are a son, Richard T. Logsdon; a daughter, Miss Barbara Ann Logsdon; his father, John J. Logsdon, Cincinnati, and two sisters, Miss Lucille Logsdon and Mrs. S. F. Squatrito, both of San Jose, Cal.
