Funeral Mass for Donald E. "Dean" Matt, 54, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on the Kalispel Indian Reservation. Burial will at the Indian Cemetery on the reservation. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home of Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Matt died of natural causes Monday at his home on the reservation, where he was born, near Usk, Wash.

He attended schools in Cusick, as well as St. Thomas Catholic School in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane Falls Community College.

Mr. Matt worked in construction and as a farm laborer throughout Eastern Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen Bigsmoke Matt and Joseph Matt; his grandparents; and a sister, Clara Rose Finley.

He is survived by a sister, Louise Garrick Becker and her husband, Phillip; two nieces, Debbie Flandro and Tami Becker; a great-niece, Elissa Flandro; numerous cousins; and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalispel Tribal Library Fund, in care of Dina Nomee at the Kalispel Indian Reservation, Cusick, WA 99180.
