DIED -- at her home, near Elmira, Lane county Oregon, April 2, 1893, of heart disease, Mrs. Sophia Inman, aged 66 years, 6 months, and 17 days. She was a pioneer of Oregon and leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her death. Mrs. Inman was apparently in good health when she rose in the morning. She had stepped out on the porch when she suddenly fell and expired.

Sophia Ja. Hinton was born in Franklin county, Missouri, September 15th, 1826. She was married to Joel C. Inman March 5th, 1846, and in 1852 emigrated to Oregon and settled about eighteen miles west of the present site of Eugene, where they have since resided, taking six months to make the trip. She was the mother of twelve children - - nine boys, and three girls, all of whom are living except three boys, two having died in childhood and one about nine years ago. She had 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. At the age of twenty-three she became a member of the Baptist church, but after coming to Oregon united with the Christian church, of which she was a worthy member. She will be missed, not only by her family, but by her many friends and relatives. ~~~
