Funeral services for Theresa Ann Johnson-Chitwood were 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim McCool officiating and at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel, Ardmore, Okla., with Pastor Don Williams officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla.


Visitation will be today, Jan. 18, 2009, at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Mrs. Chitwood was born on June 16, 1927, to Edward Phillip and Eva Caroline (Marsh) Shoemaker in Ardmore, Okla. She grew up and attended school in the Ardmore area. She later married Floyd Johnson in 1944 and Boscoe Chitwood in 1986, who preceded her in death in 1972 and 1990. She attended church at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a member of the CWA (Communication Workers of America), Telephone Pioneers and St. Mary's GILD. Mrs. Chitwood was the first women to hold her position with Southwestern Bell as a Test Desk Technician. She was very active in prayer groups, which were held weekly. Her hobbies included: ceramics, candy making, and working charity drives.


The highlights of her life were her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chitwood passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 14, 2009, at her home in Perry, Okla.


Mrs. Chitwood is survived by one son, Raymond Johnson and wife Elsie of Ardmore, Okla.; three daughters: Elizabeth Swinea of Mannsville, Okla., Eva Taylor and husband John of Perry, Okla., and Maryellen Skelton and husband Kristopher of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Tina Marie Epperson, Allen Alley, Robert Swinea, Allyson Williams, LeWayne Taylor, Sheena Crissup and Andrea Alley; five great-grandchildren: Kaitin, Nevaeh, Loraly, Audrey and Eryn; four nieces: Gloria Peterson, Jeanine Peterson, Carolyn Zimmerman, and Kathryn Gilbert; one nephew, Pat Peterson; and lifelong Friend: Betty Meadows of Oklahoma City, Okla.


She was preceded in death by: her parents, two husbands, three brothers, Alftred, Raymond and Eddie Shoemaker and two sisters, Helena Greigo and Mary Wilson.
