Stanley Pladson, 86, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 in CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Stanley Everett Pladson was born July 22, 1917 to Nels Clarence and Gertie Helmina (Disrud) Pladson in Barness Township of Pope County, MN. He grew up and attended country school in Barnes Township near Glenwood, MN. He attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN. He returned to Glenwood and worked at the Gambles Store as an assistant manager.

He was united in marriage to Helen Gehardena Moan, on September 20, 1940 at Glenwood, MN. He returned home from the service to Glenwood and continued working for Gambles. He moved his family to Thief River Falls in 1948.

Stanley served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945. He was stationed in England, Normandy, Northern France Ardennes, and Rhineland. He earned the combat & infantry badge, good conduct medal, and meritorious unit award.

He worked for 42 years, beginning in 1948 at Gambles Hardware Store, Thief River Falls, MN; he served the store as manager for many years.

Stanley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was a member of the American Legion, Lions Club, VFW, Cooties, Elks, Jaycees, and Chamber of Commerce. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, lawn manicuring, and holiday yard decorating.

He is survived by wife Helen, Thief River Falls, MN; two sons: Stanford (Trina), Champlin, MN, Craig (Charlotte), Ramsey, MN, two daughters Faith (E. Duane) Knott, Red Lake Falls, MN; Darlene (Herb) Torstveit, Thief River Falls, MN; 12 grandchildren: Troy (Reyna) Pladson, Mound, MN, Stanford, (Katie) Pladson, Jr., Zimmerman, MN, Summer Pladson, St. Paul, MN, Cynthia (Matt) Olson, WA, Candy (Don Jr.) Flower, Maple Grove, MN, Craig (Sara) Pladson Jr., Dayton, MN, Melissa (fiancé, Jack Sitter) Pladson, Grand Forks, ND, Matthew (Christina) Knott and MacKenzie Knott, all Red Lake Falls, MN, Heather (Andy) Harbott, Allyson Torstveit and Seth Torstveit, all St. Hilaire, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Stanford Pladson, Carla Pladson, Donnie Flower, Dakota Flower, Chanel Flower, Samantha Olson and Alexis Pladson; one brother Franklin (Merrian) Pladson, Glenwood, MN, one sister Laraine (Wally) Hoium, Moorhead, MN

Stanley was preceded in death by parents, three brothers Merlin, Orville, Clifford, and a sister in law Elva Pladson.
