Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 12, 2003 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Reverend Mary Ronning officiating. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Grygla.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Thursday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Friday.
Alice Olinda Salveson was born on November 17, 1911 in Benville Township, Beltrami County, MN, the daughter of Sivert and Inga (Brevik) Salveson. She was baptized and confirmed at Valle Lutheran Church and attended Dalos School in Benville Township. Alice worked in many places, including Waukegan, IL, Minneapolis and North Dakota.
Alice was united in marriage to Clarence "Gink" Peterson on July 3, 1934 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Grygla. They lived on the Peterson Family Farm in East Grygla, where she was a Modern Woodman Leader for several years.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Alice is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Gordon) Anderson of Pine Island, MN; one son, Sheldon (Janice) Peterson of Grygla, MN; six grandchildren: Rhonda (Randy) Hoffman, Lynn (Ruth) Anderson, Lori (Stuart) Weis, Jodi (Kevin) Nelson, Sherry (Steve) Dalager and Kristy (Brad) Monson; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters: Hazel Holthusen of Grygla, MN and Lorna (John) Hohle of South St. Paul, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence on November 6, 1985; her parents; one grandson, Craig Anderson; two sisters: Polly Haroldson and Stella Erickson; and three brothers: Phil, Sam and Jim Salveson.
