Mrs. Burnett, 71, of Rochester, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 2009) at Seasons Hospice.
Marilyn Vail was born April 28, 1937, in Rochester. On May 26, 1962, she married Philip Burnett in Rochester. A retired homemaker, Mrs. Burnett was part of a Book Club and enjoyed crafts, gardening, sewing, baking and reading. Her husband is a retired Mayo Clinic employee; he survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mary (Matthew) Brown of Evanston, Ill., Jennifer (Mamoon) Alyah of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Theresa (Frederick) Richards of Lake Bluff, Ill.; two sisters, Lurene (William) Witzig of Rochester and Rita Vail (Duane Mosier) of Hampden, Mass.; and two brothers, Michael Vail of Hammond and Ralph (Gail) Vail of New Port Richey, Fla. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Rachel, Nura, Theo, Freddy, Lauren and Alex (due in March). She was preceded in death by her parents, Beata and Kenneth Vail; a brother, Kenneth Vail; and a sister, Sharon Nelson.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.
The family prefers memorials to the Salvation Army.
