Melissa Gaye Crews Hickox, 19 (b. 13 Sep 1977), of Nahunta, passed away early Sunday morning (15 Jun 1997) in the University Hospital in Jacksonville, FL from injuries sustained in a vehicular accident near her home on Friday morning.
A native of Waycross, she had lived in Brantley County all of her life. She was a cashier with IGA Supermarket in Nahunta and was a member of Hickox Christian Faith Chapel near Hickox.
Survivors include her husband, Christopher "Chris" Lee Hickox of Nahunta; her mother and stepfather, Judy and Demarus Johns of Nahunta; her father and stepmother, James Michael and Juanita Crews of Folkston; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene D. Johns, Sr. of Nahunta; three brothers, Michael Patrick Crews, Gene "D.J." Johns III, and James Oliver "Jok" Johns of Nahunta and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, from the Christian Faith Chapel in the Hickox Community with the Rev. Larry Allen officiating.
Interment followed in the Rob Lewis Cemetery near Raybon.
Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.
