Brother of Patricia Furo who resided in Brooklyn, New York.

Frank served as a Technical Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-26B #42-96113, 585th Bomber Squadron, 394th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Kings County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on May 13, 1942 at Fort Jay, Governor's Island, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Waiter and also as Single, without dependents.

B-26B #42-96113 took off from Station 455, England on an operational mission to Nogent Sur Seine, France. They were hit and shot down by German ground anti-aircraft fire and crashed near Lisieux, France during the war.

Frank was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on June 22, 1950.

Service # 32335517

The reason he is named on a group headstone is because when soldier's were killed in close proximity to each other they were unable, at that time, to identify them separately and interred their remains together in one grave.
