Marjorie was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught the Pre-K Sunday School Class for over 45 years. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and playing bridge. Marjorie was a loving mother, an excellent cook, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was married December 14, 1946, to the late John L. Johnson.
Born December 5, 1928, in Dresden, she was the daughter of the late Carlos Hicks and the late Bennie Lee Adams Hicks.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Elbert) Ellison of Paris; her son, Stephan L. (May) Johnson of San Diego, CA;
a sister, Joyce (Den) Ferguson of Waverly;
two brothers, Wayne R. (Katrina) Hicks of Paris, and Howard (Millie) Hicks of Dresden;
four grandchildren, Kristian Michelle (John) Elliott, Jon Michael (Nicole) Hill, Syleste Johnson and finance Mike Evans, and Phoenix Morgan Ellison; and four great grandchildren, Gene Elliott, Anna Elliott, Max Elliott, and Lily Hill.
Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Sweeney, and a brother Carlos Hicks, Jr.
Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10 ,2022, from 4 until 7 pm and continue Friday, March 11, 2022, after 10 am until the time of the service. Her funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, at 1 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Rev. Joy Weathersbee officiating.
Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Wayne Hicks, Jon Michael Hill, Gene Elliott, and John Elliott.
Burial will follow the service in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
