THE PARIS NEWS, Sun., Aug. 31, 1997, p. 4B: 'Laura L. Whitley, 57, of Paris, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at her home. Bright-Holland Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Whitley was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Lamar County, a daughter of Bob and Susie Sinks Guess. She was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Carroll Whitley; two sons, Anthony Cline and Stephen Cline; a brother, Don Guess of Paris; three sisters, Faye Winn and Joyce Kline of Paris and Shirley Ramsey of Mena, AR; three grandchildren; and a niece and five nephews, Gina Guess Smith, Boby [sic] Guess, Greg Winn, Russell Kline, Grady Ramsey and Wayne Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Day, Tony Lindley and Shawn Lindley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Guess.'
