Born in IrelandDeath of Mrs. Ellen Hines Aylward

The death of Mrs. Ellen Hines Aylward, at her home in Brookhaven yesterday morning brought sadness to an unusually large circle of friends, as well as to her devoted sons and other relatives. Mrs. Aylward possessed a personality of rare charm and spiritual power and won and held affection as few can. She was an exemplary Christian of the Catholic faith and yet was tolerant of the religious beliefs of others and counted her friends among members of many denominations. Her sweet influence will be missed in the lives of many, her neighbors in particular.

Mrs. Aylward was born July 14th, 1843, at Poula Capa, County of Tipperary, Ireland and came to the United States in early childhood. She was married to Robert Aylward in New York City in 1864 and the couple came from the north to Natchez in 1865. After residing in Vicksburg and Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Aylward moved to Wesson in 1875. In Wesson they remained until Mr. Aylward's death in 1899, and Mrs. Aylward's removal with her son, Mr. R. F. Aylward to Brookhaven, the following year.

In Brookhaven, Mrs. Aylward and her son made their home on West Chickasaw Street. Later Mr. Aylward brought his bride there and in after years a little granddaughter., Mrs. Ellen Aylward's namesake, brought added joy to the household. Mrs. Aylward and her son occupied the same home during the latter's entire life, and the relations of mother and son were ideal. Another son, J. M. Aylward of Jackson; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren survive. of Mrs. Aylward's other two children, one died in infancy and the other, James Aylward, in the prime of his life.

As a devout member of the Catholic church, Mrs. Aylward received all the last rites and privilleges available to its adherents, before her demise.

Funeral services were announced for 10 o'clock this morning at St. Francis Church.
