She was born in Iowa, daughter of August and Elizabeth Pleggenkuhle Winter. She married George D. Stapel in 1937. He died in 1985.
Mrs. Stapel graduated from Alpha High School, Alpha, in 1931. She was a homemaker and a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Corona.
Survived by: a son, Lee (Linda) of Hinsdale, Ill.; a daughter, Lois Grimm of Berrien Springs, Mich.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a sister, Celia Miller; and a brother, Oliver Winter
Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Chapel, Sumner, with burial in Richfield Cemetery, rural Sumner. Public visitation from noon until services Monday at the funeral home.
