Richard Brookes Hooper was the son of Obediah Hooper and Massilva Brookes of Franklin Co., GA. To my knowledge after twenty plus years of research, his parents are buried in unmarked graves, probably on their land. Richard B. Hooper served as a Sergeant in the 6th Virginia Regiment during the American Revolution (National Archives Rev War Pension S 16418).

His first known wife was Elizabeth Adams, widow of Charles Word, and daughter of John Adams of Halifax County, Virginia and his wife Eleanor Powell. John Adams was born sometime between 1705 and 1710 and died in the year 1769, sometime between March 2nd and September 21st. Elizabeth Adams Word was born on May 11, 1753, most likely in Halifax County, Virginia. Richard and Elizabeth were married on January 13, 1783 in Halifax County, after her first husband, Charles Word, was killed on October 7, 1780 at the Battle of Kings Mountain during the Revolutionary War.

Elizabeth Adams and Charles Word had 8 children, who became the step-children of Richard B. Hooper. Elizabeth had 8 more children with Richard. It is interesting to note that exact birth dates for the 8 children of Richard B. Hooper are known, even without tombstones recording the dates, but no record has been published as to where the birth dates came from. Were they recorded in a family bible, church record, or some other primary source record?

His 2nd known marriage was to Adenia/Adonia "Dolly" Mason, widow of James M. Miller (d. 1827). They were married on April 23, 1834 in Franklin County, Georgia. Richard was 78 years old and she was 42 years old. Richard is buried on the old Miller farm where they lived.

Note: The place of burial of both of his wives, Elizabeth and Adenia, are unknown or unmarked. There are two links on this memorial as spouses of Richard. The first Elizabeth Adams Word is his first wife, but the link to the other Elizabeth Word Hooper is actually Richard's Sister-in-law, wife of his brother, Mathew B. Hooper, and also his Step-daughter. She was born to his first wife, Elizabeth Adams, and her first husband, Charles Word. Find A Grave doesn't have a way to delete a spouse from the Memorial, only add to, so I can't correct the error.
