Mrs. Bortner, 92, Oldest Glenville Resident, Succumbs

Glenville - A fractured hip suffered recently in a fall at her home proved fatal to Mrs. Malinda Fishel Bortner, oldest resident of Glenville, who died at 6:45 last evening. She was 92 years old.
Wife of the late Peter P. Bortner, she was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Stone Church. Mrs. Bortner resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Pius Bortner, here.
The following survive: Four children, Mrs. Claude Emig, Brodbecks RD; Spencer W. Bortner, Glen Rock RD 1; Mrs. Urban Keiser, Brodbecks RD, and Pius Bortner; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, and one half-sister, Mrs. James Koller, Glen Rock.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bortner residence with concluding obsequies at Stone Church. The pastor, Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, will officiate. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining the church. Funeral Directors H. C. Geiple and son, Glen Rock, have charge of arrangements.


MALINDA BORTNER, oldest member of the Jefferson Charge, and life-long resident of this community, died at the home of her son, Pius Bortner, in Glenville, on Jan. 8, 1948, after a brief illness.
Aged 92 years, 10 months, and 7 days, she had remarkably good health until near the end of life.
Wife of the late Peter P. Bortner, she was a faithful member of St. Jacob's Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Claude Emig and Mrs. Urban Keiser, both of Brodbecks; two sons, Spencer W. Bortner, Glen Rock RD 1, and Pius Bortner, Glenville, with whom for twenty-one years she had her home; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and one half-sister, Mrs. James Koller, Glen Rock.
The funeral was held on Sunday, Jan. 11th in St. Jacob's Church, after a brief service for the family at the home. Burial was made in the new cemetery.
