Mrs. Annie B. Shepard - An Appreciation

Those of us who had the privilege of knowing Mrs. Shepard when she came to Derry as a teacher remember her attractive personality and her beautiful voice. She was generous with her musical talent and her clear soprano gave the greatest pleasure to those who were so fortunate as to listen to her singing.

When later Mrs. Shepard made her home in East Derry, her hospitality was most gracious and she was always interested in the life of the town. She was a devoted home maker and was a constant companion to her sons, sharing their interest in all their varied activities.

The Molly Reid Chapter of the D.A.R. was organized by Mrs. Shepard and it has been the object of her special interest during its fifty years of existence. At the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Chapter, which was celebrated in October, special honor was paid to Mrs. Shepard as the leading Charter Member of the Chapter.

Mrs. Shepard was interested in all the movements for the betterment of the town and the community at large and her influence has been felt very widely throughout the state. Her charming manner, her cordial greeting, her unfailing kindness and her wisdom in judgment will cause her memory to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
