Cecil Clarence Allen, 73, of Idaho Falls, a former employee of several businesses and the City of Idaho Falls, died Jan. 9, 1995, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 21, 1921, at Ozone, near Bone west of Idaho Falls, to Clarence Morely and Cora Gates Waters Allen. He grew up in Idaho Falls and Ammon, and attended schools there. His mother died when he was 4, and he lived with aunts and uncles, spending much of his early life and being raised by his aunt, Etta Gardner. After his father remarried, he moved with his family to Woodville. During World War II, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross, and the first through sixth Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters to air medal. On Jan. 6, 1950, he married Lila Mildred Webster at Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a sheepherder, railroad repairman, at the Kellogg mines, Midland Elevators, Bonded Produce, for Jack Thomas, Kent Ward Farm, Farr Candy Co., and retired in 1983 from the City of Idaho Falls street department. An active member of the LDS Church, his service included secretary of the high priests. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, the wildlife and mountains. He loved his family. Survivors include his wife of Idaho Falls; children, Doyle C. Allen, Marvin D. Allen and Mrs. Delbert (Karla Jean) Klinger, all of Rigby, and Dale E. Allen of Salt Lake City; the aunt who raised him, Etta Gardner of Idaho Falls; a brother and four sisters, Melvin Allen of Palisades, Mrs. Moroni (Leora) Lundquist of Shelley, Mrs. Lee (Thelma) Franck of Alabama, Mrs. Truman (Bertha) Wilcox of Oregon, and Mrs. Earl (Viola) Gardner of Idaho Falls; three stepbrothers, Lee Fowler of Idaho Falls, Glen Fowler of Woodville, and Laveral Fowler of Nampa; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and four stepbrothers. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Idaho Falls LDS 21st Ward. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery, where military rites will be performed by Bonneville County Veterans Team.
