OBITUARY: The Manti Messenger, Friday 20 March 1896:
DIED – On March 16th, 1896, Metta Maria Maria Madsen, aged 80 years. Funeral services were held in the Tabernacle on Wednesday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. Sister Madsen came to Manti in 1863. Seventeen years ago she was left a widow by the death of her husband. Six children survive her, all of whom are grown to manhood and womanhood. She has lived a long and useful life and was ready and willing to be called home.
Daughter of Christian Hansen & Kirsten Nielsdatter. Wife of Niels Madsen.
