Only child of Anthony Wayne Pouncey, Jr. (1854-1919) and Artilla Q. Ward (1856-1919), attended business school in San Antonio. Stockman, rancher, editor, bank cashier, livestock inspector, Rainbow Mines worker, secretary of the Alpine (Texas) Chamber of Commerce, and lastly secretary for the Odd Fellows Lodge in San Antonio. He died in the IOOF office in the Crockett Hotel, next to the Alamo. He was IOOF Texas Grand Master, 1926-1927. He was a member of the volunteer Texas Rangers Force, 1918-1920, when he lived in Alpine, Brewster County. Jesse and wife Sarah Irma Magee had three children.
