John was Patriot of the American Revolution. He enlisted in Nov 1776 as a Private in Capt. Joseph Stetson's Company, Col. Nicholas Dyke's Regiment of the Massachusetts Line. He served at Dorchester Heights and in Rhode Island. He was also in Capt. John Turner's Company, Col. Theophilus Cotton's Regiment. He was discharged on 1 Nov 1777.
He was married on 9 Sep 1779 in Pembroke, Plymouth County, Massachusetts to Cynthia Phillips.
