Johann F Thiessen was born in a Mennonite Settlement, Konteniusfeld, Molotschna, South Russia now called Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine.

Mr. John F Thiessen, a pioneer settler of this vicinity, died at his home here in Jansen on Tuesday morning at 5:30. The deceased has been ill during the greater part of the summer and was gradually declining until Tuesday morning when the peaceful end came.

Several weeks ago, members of the family of the deceased who reside in Kansas and the western part of this state came here to see their aged father who was then considered to be near the end of life's journey. Mr. Thiessen improved slightly and the children returned to their homes in western Nebraska and Central Kansas in hopes that their father had passed the crisis in his illness and would recover.

During the past week or ten days, however, there was a marked evidence of his decline and the end was momentarily expected during the last three days previous to his death.

The deceased was at the time of his death a little over 77 years old. He was one of the early settlers having come here from Konteniusfeld, Molotschna, South Russia in
28 Jul 1876 aboard the SS VADERLAND. He located near the town of Jansen Nebraska. He was a very peaceful and much-respected citizen.

Funeral services will be held in the Krimmer Mennonite Brethren Church, of which the deceased has been a member and deacon for many years. This Thursday afternoon and interment will be made in the cemetery east of the church.

Children:
Anna Thiessen Fast (Mrs. Rev Jacob Fast)of Jansen, Nebraska and later of Kingsburg, CA

Helena Thiessen Shellenberg of Jansen, Nebraska and later of Madrid, Nebraska
