Lorena Chidester Griffin, age 86, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Salt Lake City, UT.


She was born April 27, 1922 in Panguitch, UT to Theodore and Ida Sargent Chidester. She married Vernile Emerson Griffin on April 6, 1943 in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1999.


Mom served three missions for the LDS Church: South Dakota - Rapid City, Florida - Tampa, and St. George Utah Genealogical Mission. She served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple, as the Relief Society President, taught Primary, Relief Society and Teacher Development. She was proud of her Daughters of the Utah Pioneer Heritage and was an active member of the DUP.


Lorena is survived by her children: Paul Vernile Griffin, Dale (Carolee) Griffin, Susan Griffin, Janice (Robert) Willis, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 12:00 Noon in the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple Street, where a visitation will be held from 10 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
