Leta was my 3rd cousin through her father, Hollis Eugene Curtis.
Leta Curtis Pugh passed away peacefully in her home on January 10, 2009 at the age of 97. She resided at 5124 South Cottonwood Lane (2255 East) in Holladay, Utah at the time of her death.

Leta was born on June 12, 1911 to Hollis and Ada Curtis in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Leta can be described best as a "Lady." She exemplified the attributes of a woman who is courteous, kind, and refined. She was admired not only for her beauty but also for her poise and grace. Leta was born to Ada and Hollis Curtis and was raised in a happy home by nurturing and loving parents.

As a teenager her beauty and grace was instantly noticed by Warren E. Pugh and they became immediate "sweethearts" and were married seven years later on September 1, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Leta was more than a devoted and supportive wife; she was the finishing touch to Warren. They were a couple that emulated unity, commitment and values. They faced every success and challenge together. Leta was an organizer.

She kept everything of value filed and placed where it could easily be found. Her organizational skills and many other talents prepared her for many leadership opportunities. She served on the Young Women's General Board for the L.D.S. Church.

She also served in the L.D.S. Hospital Women's Auxiliary, the Pink Ladies and was their President for several terms. Among her greatest joys was serving with the missionaries of the Northern California Mission (1959-1962) where her husband served as Mission President. Leta was a dedicated Temple worker at the Jordan River Temple.

She loved serving. Her greatest service was to family. Leta enjoyed handiwork and made many items for family members and friends; her workmanship was beautiful. Her home and heart were always open to everyone. She made others feel welcome and included them in the blessing of friends, family and fun.

She provided a nurturing environment for not only her three children but for their friends and generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Countless children and teenagers have spent time in "Grandma Pugh's" swimming pool all leaving with a cookie in their hand.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her first child Richard. She was survived by her children Carol J. Matheson (Robert), Lorin K. Pugh (Judy) and Donald E. Pugh (Jane), 20 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Holladay Fourteenth Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 4917 South Viewmont Street (2085 East) in Holladay, Utah. A viewing was held prior to the services from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m.
Leta was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Salt Lake City Cemetery in The Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah.
REST IN PEACE.
