Per cemetery records July 8, 2019 checking on this memorial because of an edit for Joe Madison I found out that none of the three on the stone are buried in the cemetery. This and the others are a cenotaph only.

Suggested edit: There is also a gravestone for Joseph D. Madison on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Possibly he and his brother are truly buried there but notated on this stone as well. I have photos if you would like to include them on this page. I am not a family member but we noted the gravestone because Joe served in the same Company in the Civil War as my ancestor.

This means more research is necessary. Need to check with the cemetery office to see if he is actually buried there. That phone call July 8, 2019 confirmed that neither of the three are actually buried in Hazelwood Cemetery. This needs to be marked as a cenotaph.
