Obituary for William Robarge
from the Tomahawk, (Lincoln County, WI) Leader, 25 Feb 1926:

There is something indefinable and inexpressibly sad about the passing away of a man in the very heyday of his life. When he should be at his very best, with every talent radiating the full power of his manly strength, and the vigor of his personality impressing itself upon his surroundings, then to be cut off and laid away is indeed sad. But it is one of the inexorable laws of the natural world. We hazard many guesses and utter absurd philosophies about such a situation, but reason only has its answer to this question, and faith supports reason in this and many other inexplicable situations.

It is therefore sad to report the death of William Robarge. A young man in his prime with the pathway of life open before him only to be cut down and carried away on that invisible current we call death.

Thomas and Virginia Robarge were his parents and he was born in this city Jan. 5, 1888. He made his residence here all his life until about 5 years ago when he removed to St. Louis, Mo., where he has engaged in the carpenter trade. In this latter city he was married to Mrs. Laura Showalter, and to the union were born three children as follows: Esther 4 years old, George 18 months old, and a baby son of three weeks. For some time he has felt a little weary physically but not until about three months ago did the disease show an alarming tendency. He came home thinking a change would be beneficial, but he passed away on Friday, February 19, at 11 p.m.

He leaves to mourn his loss besides his widow and three fatherless children, his mother and five brothers and one sister, George, Thomas and Archie Robarge of Milwaukee, and Edward and Chester Robarge at home, besides many other relatives. His father passed away 14 years ago while one brother, Patrick, was killed in action in the Argonne forest in France in the last war. Two sisters, Emma and Angie, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted at the parental home in South Tomahawk on Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. R. G. Heddon officiating, and interment took place at Calvary cemetery beside the remains of those who have gone before him. The mourners are assured of the sympathy of the many friends who sorrow with them in the taking of one whom they loved, and pray that divine comfort be given them to bear the heavy cross thus placed upon their shoulder.

[note: death certificate gives year of birth as 1887.
