Amy was born in Jewel, Arkansas. She and her sister, Edith, were raised in tough times helping on the family farm and running a small country general store.

Her first marriage to Lauridge Adair was tenuous but produced her first daughter, Connie Sue Adair.

She moved herself and Connie to Port Arthur around 1945. She worked as a waitress and manager of the café in the Adams building, the soda fountains of downtown and other restaurants in the area. During this time the beautiful and talented Amy met the dashing and debonair Albert Peck and the stage was set.

Amy and Albert married in 1952. They added to the family with the birth of her second daughter Sarah Johanna in 1954 and son Robert Mayo in 1959. In addition to raising the family, Amy was always busy in church life and activities and was a member of the United Methodist Women for many years. After the most difficult event of her life, the death of Connie in 1978, Amy became a volunteer in the Park Place Auxiliary. She continued to serve and be a volunteer for twenty three years. She enjoyed making gifts, which were sold in the gift shop at Park Place, and she put together the Auxiliary yearbooks for a few years. She was chosen Auxilian of the Year more than once.

She was quite a good cook and excelled at potato salad and her pecan pie is a thing of legend.

Amy and Albert were very active in the Port Arthur Little Theater for many years where they were lifetime members and part of the "Over the Hill Gang".

After fifty two years of marriage and Albert's passing in 2005, Amy had a hard time and endured numerous health issues.

Amy's sister Edith, daughter Connie, and husband Albert precede her in death.

She was survived by her children Sarah Johanna Peck-Pearson, her husband Jim Pearson; son Robert Mayo Peck, his wife Debra Jean Peck; nephew Kenneth Eugene Bayless, his son Kenneth Eugene Bayless Jr., his wife Ellen and their children, Benjamin and Emily; his daughter Melissa and her son Michael, his wife Monika and son Mason, her son Daniel his wife Jennifer; and her daughter Savannah.
