Born in Feb 1837 near Atlanta, Georgia, Loyd Littleton Maroney was the son of Benjamin Maroney and Elizabeth Gresham. He lived in Campbell County in Georgia in 1850 and 1860. On 4 Mar 1862 Maroney enlisted into Company K, 41st Georgia Infantry, Confederate States Army. He is listed on the roll call of Nov/Dec 1863 in Company K as "absent sick." He "was at Hospital Atlanta Ga. when war closed was discharged there at close of the war." Maroney married Rachel Saphronia Morris abt 1860. They had eight children together. Maroney married Malissa Endsley on 4 Dec 1885 in Cass County, Texas. They had no children. Maroney lived in Cass County, Texas in 1880, 1900, and 1910. On 2 Feb 1910, Maroney filled out an Application for Confederate Pension in Cass County, Texas. In it he stated that he was 73 years of age and had lived in Texas continuously since 1869. His current address was Atlanta, (Cass County,) Texas, Route #5. Maroney was awarded his pension. Maroney died on 29 Oct 1915 in Texas, probably in Lamar County.

Jan. 2012 - Grave marker not found. It was reported that many graves were marked with wooden posts that have since rotted away.
