Mary Alice Adkisson, 87, died at her home on January 2, 2004, after an extended illness during which she was wonderfully cared for by loving caregivers.

Born to Sam and Addie Sawyer Cain in Eudora, Arkansas, she attended what is now the University of Central Arkansas, beginning what was to become a lifetime of friendships and family relationships in Conway. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Twentieth Century Club and various bridge clubs, all of which she enjoyed very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, G.W. Adkisson, Jr.

She is survived by their three sons, Curtis Samuel Adkisson of Blacksburg, Va., and George W. Adkisson III, and William Cain Adkisson, both of Conway and five grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 4, at 4 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway with the Rev. Phil Hathcock officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, 327-7727.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Conway or the American Diabetes Association, 11001 West Markham, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211.
