Mrs. L. E. Davis, Orangeburg, Dies

SPECIAL - Mrs. Maggie Rowell Davis, 56, wife of Luther E. Davis, died this morning at the Orangeburg Regional hospital after several months of declining health. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Sunday afternoon from Willow Swamp Baptist church by the Rev. J. A. Ward, the Rev. Paul A. Bolen and the Rev. J. M. Lane. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Davis spent most of her life at Norway, but had lived in Orangeburg for the past several years. She was a daughter of the late Augustus B. and Mary Ailene Baker Rowell of Norway. She was a member of the Neeses Baptist church. Besides her husband, survivors include four sons, Cecil L. Davis of Liberal, KS, L. Laverne and Welborne F. Davis of Orangeburg and Laurie T. Davis of St. Matthews; two daughters, Mrs. Artis Boltin and Miss Marian Davis, both of Orangeburg; a sister, Mrs. Edna Baltzegar of Wilson, N. C.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Frank Cunningham and Mrs. Alice Davis, both of Columbia, and three grandchildren.
Additions and/or Corrections: Margaret (Maggie) Elnora Rowell Davis, b. 10-18-1895, d. 8-24-1951. Correct spelling of mother's name: Mary Alien Baker Rowell. Mrs. Alice Davis was a step-sister.
