Dentist Dies After Illness Practiced In City Nearly 50 Years

Dr. Henry Ralph Williams, 71, local dentist, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient several weeks. Dr. Williams, who resided at 38 North Liberty Street, had practiced dentistry in Cumberland for 49 years.
Dr. Williams was a past president of the Maryland State Dentistry Association and was a graduate of Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. He was a member of Fort Cumberland Post 13, American Legion; member and past president of East Gate Lodge 216, AF AM; member and former vestryman of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and was a charter member of the Cumberland Rotary Club.
Born at Poolesville, Md., he was a son of the late Harry N. and Nellie (White) Williams. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth S. Williams; two daughters, Mrs. William Holland, Fairlawn, N. J., and Mrs. John Daugherty, Wheeling, W. Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Robert G. Gray, Poolesville, and Mrs. Keith C. Rice, Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The body is at the Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville, Md., where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p. m. Burial will be at Poolesville. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Allegany County Unit, American Cancer Society.
