Mr. Avent, a building supply salesman, was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Webster County. He was a member of Fame Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Avent of Maben; two daughters Janice Redwine and Tonia Avent of Maben; four sisters, Edna Ward of Maben, Mary Lou Shepard of Florence, Lorene Eubanks of Eupora and Irene Shurden of Starkville; two brothers, T.J. Avent of Maben and Billy McCoy Avent of Cedar Bluff; and two grandchildren.
Services were May 27 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Allen Johnson and Stevie Ellis officiating. Burial was in Clarkson Cemetery
Pallbearers were Harry Bell, Jason Flora, Jeremy Flora, Justin Flora, Jimmy Avent and Stevie Ellis.
