The spirit of Frank Unternaehrer passed out of this life into the Great Beyond Sunday evening, November 27, 1927 at 5 o'clock. He was born December 6, 1859, in Alsace Loraine, France, making his age at time of death 68 years, 11 months and 23 days. He came to this country at the age of seventeen, settling in Carroll county, and remaining there until 1910, then moving northeast of Brunswick where he remained until death.
He was united in marriage, January 13, 1890, to Barbara Kuhn who survives him. To this union were born seven children, one dying in infancy. The six remaining are Katie Bates of Kansas City; Mary Henke of Borger, Texas; Freda England of Blaine, Kansas; Pauline Masters, Adolph and Albert of Brunswick. He leaves to mourn, besides his wife, children and a host of friends, thirteen grandchildren.
He united with the St. John's Lutheran church about four years ago and remained a faithful member until his death. One of his greatest pleasures was attending church and he attended as long as his health permitted. He had been suffering from cancer for the past three years. But had never been confined to his bed until a week ago, when he returned home from the Woodland hospital at Moberly, where he had been for treatment. Through out all his suffering, he was never heard to grumble or complain, always appreciating everything that was done for him, going on patiently day by day, trusting and hoping he would regain his health, but if he could not he was willing to give his life back to the God who gave it to him. The end came quietly and peacefully just as the sun was sinking Sunday evening. His children, were all at home with the exception of Mary and Freda, who were unable to come.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran Church, by his pastor Rev. Abel. He was laid to rest in Elliott Grove Cemetery. A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends were present to pay their last tribute of love and respect to a beloved husband, father and friend.
