Almon Andrew Atkins
Almon Andrew Atkins, 86, Springfield, Mo., passed away at 1:07 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 1996, in St. John's Regional Health Center.
He was born March 29, 1910, in Sleeper. Mo., the son of David Andrew and Grace Wilson Atkins.
He was a retired Public Accountant with the firm of Roper and Atkins.
He was a member of South Street Christian Church where he served as church treasurer. He was a member of the Home Builders Class and was Elder Emeritus. He was a 50 year member of United #5 Masonic Lodge, the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple, and the Order of Eastern Star. He was also a long time member of St. John's Commandery, Royal Arch Masons, Zabud Council, Red Cross of Constuntine and the Sword of Bunker Hill.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Josephine Mack; two brothers, Doral and Burl; and a sister, Faye Fuble.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Ruth, of the home; a son and his wife, Ancell Mack and Karen Atkins, Lebanon; a step-daughter and her husband, Valera and Hugh Terhune, Johnson City, Tenn.; a brother, Farron Atkins, Lebanon; three grandchildren, Mark Atkins, Marietta, Ga., Mary Edwards and her husband, John, Versailies, Mo., and Susan Back and her husband, Jeff, St. Peters, Mo.; two step-grandchildren, Carol and David Terhune; a great-grandson, Cameron Andrew Back; and many nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 1996, in South Street Christian Church with the Rev. Max Jenkins officiating under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to South Street Christian Church Memorial Fund, 500 South Street, Springfield, MO 65806.
