Grand Haven--A 61-year-old construction worker from Holland fell to his death Thursday afternoon while working on the new J.B. Sims Power Plant in Grand Haven, police said. Gordon D. Naber, of 1051 Paw Paw Drive, fell an estimated 20 feet from a steel intake structure at ground level onto a cement floor below. He was transported to North Ottawa Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.Naber was employed by Elzinga and Volkers, a Holland construction firm, and was back on the job for the first day Thursday after having been laid off for a time, a Grand Haven police dispatcher said.Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; three sons, Kenneth J. Naber of Saratoga, Calif., Donald J. and James L. Naber, both of Sausalito, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Ben (Janice) Groenhof of Zeeland, Mrs. Nancy Todd of Saugatuck, Mrs. Michael (Alice) Zarzecki of Holland, Mrs. Ted (Joan) Willimas of Cadillac and Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Dykstra of Holland; 19 grandchildren; his stepmother, Mrs. Walter (Cornelia) Naber of Holland; three brothers, John A., Jack D. and Paul M. Naber, all of Holland; four sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Alma) Powers of Eaton Rapids, Mrs. Norman (Donna) Piersma of Monteria, Columbia, South America, Mrs. Bruce (Karen) Bell of Wichita, Kans., and Mrs. Virgil (Ruth) Grover of Mamers, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lee (Pearl) Beyer of Holland.Naber was a member of Holland Heights Christian Reformed Church, where services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Edward P. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.Calling hours at Notier-Ver Lee-Langeland Chapel are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
