Edward Sawyer Jr a child of Edward S Lawrence and his wife Lena L born on the 23rd day of June 1905 at Perry, Ohio received Christian Baptism on the 10th day of June in the year of our Lord 1906 First Congregational Church Painesville signed by Arthur F Skeele Paster.

Edward passed examination in the Primary Department of Perry M. E Bible School October 1, 1916 and was promoted with honor to the Junior Department Signed by Mrs CO West, CO West, and ER Brown.

Edward was a member of the Boy Scouts of America certified as a member in good standing in Troop # 1 Perry Ohio April 27, 1920 at the age of 14 height 5' - 2" and weight 120. Qualified as a tenderfoot on April 27, 1920.

Edward Lawrence received promotion to High School on May 28, 1920 having completed Course of Study of the elementary schools of Perry Rurel school district Lake county

Edward Lawrence graduated from Perry High School on May 28, 1924 at the age of 18 Years 11 Months 5 Days

Edward married Eva Mae (Kelley) Kellogg on Saturday June 23, 1928 in Painesville Ohio on his 23rd birthday. Eva was daughter of Guy Cary Kellogg and Sarah Cordelia Andre Kellogg

Edward and Eva lived for a short time in Painesville, Ohio at 43 South State Street beginning on July 1, 1928, after marrage and then moved to Perry, Ohio, where they rented a home from Fred Palmer across Narrows Road from the old high school.

Had two children, Dennis Guy and Robert Edward Lawrence

Edward started work at the Diamond Alkali Co. in Fairport, Ohio in 1933. We worked as a carpenter during the construction of the plant. In 1935 he was promoted to Assistant Shift Foreman, then in 1940 to Shift Foreman, and then Area Supt in charge of shipping in 1962. He retired in 1967 at the age of 62 years, he was an Area Supertendant in charge of shipping.

Edward purchased 5 acres at the west end of the original 27 1/2 acre family plot from his sister Martha Elizabeth in 1938.
Edward paid $20 to JM Crabbs C.E. on September 16, 1938 for "Survey, plat and description of 5.00 acres on the Narrows Road, Perry, Ohio. Description of this land as follows:
"Known as being a part of Lot 58, Township of Perry, County of Lake and State of Ohio and is furthur bonded and descriped as follows:
Beginning in the center of the Narrows Road where the east line of the land now or formerly owned by Thomas Langshaw intersects the same.
Thence following the east line of land of said Langshaw S. 2*-20' W. a distance of 551.1 feet to an iron pipe stake in the north line of land of Thomas Langshaw.
Thence following the north line of land of Langshaw EAST, a distance of 372.13 feet to an iron pipe stake.
Thence by a line which bears N. 2*-20' E. a distance of 620.50 feet (passing through an iron pipe stake in the south line of the Narrows Road) to the center of the road.
Thense following the center line of the Narrows Road to a place of beginning and containing 5.000 acres of land as surveyed and described by J.M. Crabbs, Registered Engineeer and Surveyor, No. 387."

Edward build a wood frame house on this land located at 3168 Narrows Road, Perry, Ohio. Edward farmed this land until he retired with peach, apple, pear, and cheery trees. Edward also built houses for his brothers Glen and Harrold also on the original family plot. Harrold's house was located to the east of Edward's, then the original family house then Glen's house on the east end of the family plot. Edward also did extensive renovations to the family house for Martha Elizabeth prior to her return from Painesville with her husband.

Edward joined the Perry Volunteer Fire Department about 1944 and retired as Assistant Fire Cheif. He also served as Perry Township Trustee from 1956 to 1973. He received recognition for his service to the community from the State of Ohio House of Representatives under the sponsorship of Rep. Robert Boggs of the 97th District.
