Mrs. Courtney Williams Combs, 72, formerly of 7129 Northland St., Jacksonville, died this morning in a Macclenny hospital, Wednesday, following a brief illness. A native of Baker County, Mrs. Combs was the daughter of J.J. (Uncle Buddy) and Sarah Benett Williams, pioneer Baker County citizens and the widow of Lonnie Combs who died in March of 1961. Until a month ago, when she moved to Macclenny to reside with her brother, she had lived in Jacksonville more than 30 years, moving there from Miami. Survivors are 2 sisters; W.C. (Nomie) Lyles of Miami, and Mrs. W.J. (Cora) Thompson both of Jacksonville, 3 brothers; L.L. (Tad) Williams and George P. Williams, both of Macclenny, and Otis Williams of Miami. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 P.M. from the Taylor Methodist Church, 17 miles north of Glen St. Mary in Baker County, with Elder James M. Land of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church, Jacksonville, officiating. The body will rest in the church for one hour prior to the service. The following nephews will serve as pallbearers: Paul Crews, Daniel Crews, Leslie Thompson, Williard Thompson, Edward Williams, and Lawrence Williams. They are requested to meet at the church at 2:45 P.M. Interment will be in the family plot in Taylor Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of John M. Brinkley, Mortician, Macclenny. Florists please have flowers in Macclenny by noon Friday.
